SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate volleyball team will play three matches this weekend during the South Carolina State Spikefest Tournament in Orangeburg, S.C. The team picked up a match earlier this weekend when Wofford agreed to meet the Spartans at the tournament, but Savannah State has dropped out of the tournament, leaving the Spartans with their original three matches. Upstate (2-5 overall) will meet Hampton (4-4) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday before meeting crosstown rival, Wofford, in the Friday night finale at 7 p.m. The Spartans and Lady Terriers (3-6 overall) met on Aug. 24 in the finale of the Fatz Cafe USC Upstate Tournament, with the Terriers winning 3-2. On Saturday, Upstate will face the hosts, South Carolina State (5-7), in the last match of the tournament at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Spartans beat the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0, on Aug. 28 at the Hodge Center. |
