July 28, 2007 SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mandy Rupert was named Peach Belt Player of the Week for the third time this season, released today by the conference. Rupert had another outstanding week as she played in the final regular season matches of her career as a member of the USC Upstate volleyball team. She averaged 4.6 kills and 4.8 digs per game while hitting .264. The senior began with 27 kills and 26 digs in a non-conference win at Lenoir-Rhyne, then had 15 kills and 19 digs in a win over Augusta State. She finished her week with 18 kills, 17 digs and two blocks in a loss to USC Aiken. Currently, she is the runaway leader in the PBC in kills with 4.48 per game and cracked the top 10 in digs, becoming the only player to be ranked in both categories. Rupert also ranks third in the league in hitting percentage, as well as, tenth in aces. Over here career at USC Upstate she has now been named PBC Player of the Week six times. She has been named to the PBC All-Conference team the last two years, and her first year at USC Upstate was named the Peach Belt Freshman of the Year. She now owns the USC Upstate career attacks, kills, and aces records, and ranks second all-time in digs. Rupert has had one of the best careers in Spartans volleyball history, and should be a easy choice for the school's Hall of Fame as soon as she is eligible. |
