Novo/Milovanovic Advance In Doubles Play At Southern Intercollegiates

Anna Novo and Emilia Milovanovic advanced to the semifinals of the B-1 doubles bracket at the Southern Intercollegiates.

Oct. 26, 2007

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El Angel) and freshman Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) won the USC Upstate women's tennis team's lone match of the day during a rain-shortened Friday at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the University of South Carolina's Indoor Tennis Center.

Novo and Milovanovic handled the Virginia Tech duo of Cramp/Walker in the first round of the B-1 doubles flight, 8-4. Novo and Milovanovic got out a 4-1 lead, but Cramp and Walker won the next two games to bring the score to 4-3. However, the big serve of Milovanovic got the Spartan team back on the right track as they won four of the last five games to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

The doubles duo of senior Diana Martinez (Medellin, Colombia/Nuestra Senora del Rosario) and junior Vivian Neuenschwander (Arequipa, Peru/Max-Uhle) will begin play in the consolation round of the B-2 doubles flights on Saturday.

Play will resume in Columbia at 9 a.m. with doubles matches before the two rounds of scheduled singles play will start at the tournament.
