CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The USC Upstate women's tennis team completed play during the second day of the ITA Indoor Southeast Regionals at the University of North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on Thursday.

Senior Susana Hernandez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano) fell in the qualifier singles bracket to Eastern Kentucky's Alexandra Sitnikova, the eight-seed in the bracket, took a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

Junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El Angel) and freshman Emilia Milovanovic (Paris France) also fell to Elon's Deanna Bailey and Jenn Tucci, 9-8 (5), in the opening round of the main doubles draw. The loss snapped Novo's personal 18-match winning streak, having posted 10 straight singles wins and eight straight doubles wins.

Novo will start play in the main draw on Friday at 1 p.m., facing North Carolina's junior Meg Fanjoy. Novo, a two-time Division II All-American will face a stiff test in Fanjoy, who was ranked 40th in the ITA NCAA Division I doubles rankings last year with partner Austin Smith.
