SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate softball program will conduct its annual Day Camp on January 19, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Cyrill Softball Stadium and the auxillary gym at Upstate.

The Upstate Spartans Softball Day Camp is under the direction of Upstate head coach Chris Hawkins and assistant coach Ciria Ochoa. Hawkins is a member of the Upstate Athletics Hall of Fame and has won 454 games in his 12-year career. Ochoa was a pitcher at Central Washignton University and holds the school's all-time saves and games finished records.

In addition to Hawkins and Ochoa, former Spartan first baseman Ashleigh Beck and several members of the 2008 Upstate softball team will be on hand to offer instruction. The Spartans advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four seasons and won a school record 47 games in 2007. Upstate has won 40 or more games the last three seasons and return three All-Americans from last years squad: Vanesa Flores, Heidi Gibbs and Shay Slater.
