Spartanburg, S.C. - Ericka Harris collected four hits in two games, including the game-winner against Hartford, and has been named to the all-tournament team at the Winthrop/adidas Invitational softball tournament last weekend. The all-tournament selection was announced late yesterday evening. Harris, a freshman from Piedmont, S.C., hit .800 to lead the Spartans to a sweep of the competition on Saturday as Upstate defeated Hartford, 2-0, and Winston-Salem State, 8-0. Upstate's games on Sunday were canceled due to heavy rain overnight. With the score tied at 0-0 in the fifth inning against Hartford, Harris knocked a two-out double to drive in the eventual game-winning run. She finished the game 2-for-2 with an RBI and a sacrifice bunt. She was also perfect behind the plate, finishing with 15 putouts and one assist. In the second game of the tournament, she went 2-for-3 with an RBI and another double to lead the Spartans to an 8-0 victory over Winston-Salem State. Her selection to the all-tournament team at the Winthrop/adidas Invitational marks her second all-tournament honor this season. Previously, she was an all-tourney pick at the Campus Suites Spartan Classic hosted by Upstate at Cyrill Stadium. |
