2010 Women's Soccer Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The 11th-season of soccer for USC Upstate and first under the direction of head coach Renee Lopez will begin with a pair of exhibitions to kick-off the 2010 campaign.

"I am very excited about the 2010 season," said Lopez. "Our returners had a great spring as we had some quality training games. We had success in those games and the athletes also improved their fitness level during the spring. We also have 15 new players that will be joining our program in August and I look forward to what our team can accomplish in 2010."

Upstate will host USC Sumter in an exhibition match on Friday, August 13th at County University Soccer Stadium. The Spartans will follow that match with a trip down Pine Street to face Converse College in its second and final exhibition of 2010 on Wednesday, August 18th.

The Spartans will begin its fourth-season of Division I play when it hosts the Charleston Southern on Friday, August 20th. Upstate's road schedule will begin on Tuesday, August 24 when it travels down Interstate 85 to Greenville to face Furman. Upstate will return to County University Soccer Stadium for two matches to conclude the month of August. Upstate will square off against Georgia Southern for the first time in program history on August 28th. Three days later, the Spartans will host Gardner-Webb.

The women's soccer team will hit the road for the next five matches before returning home for its first home conference match of 2010. Upstate will play at Wofford (Sept. 5) before traveling to Boiling Springs, N.C. for the 2010 Border Classic hosted by Gardner-Webb. Upstate will square off against Morehead State on September 10th, followed by a Sunday matinee against Chattanooga.

The Spartans will begin its Atlantic Sun schedule with road match at Campbell on Thursday, September 16th. After the trip to Buies Creek, N.C., Upstate will step out of conference when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to face Alabama State on September 19th.

The Spartans will begin the home portion of its A-Sun slate when Belmont (Sept. 24) and Lipscomb (Sept. 26) visit County University Soccer Stadium. The following weekend the squad will travel to the River City when they face Jacksonville (Oct. 1) and North Florida (Oct. 3).

Upstate will entertain Stetson on October 8th, before Florida Gulf Coast comes to town on October 10th. The Spartans final road games of the 2010 season will be at Kennesaw State (Oct. 15) and Mercer (Oct. 17th). Upstate will complete its 2010 campaign on October 24th when they host ETSU on senior day.
