SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Competing in her second pageant of 2010, Leigh Ward won the Miss Traveler's Rest pageant on March 6, 2010. The pageant was held at the Greenville Technical College.

The three-year Spartan soccer player won the Talent and Swimsuit portions of the pageant en route to her title. Ward was 1st-Runner up at the Miss Spartanburg pageant in January.

"It was a really special night for two reasons," said Ward. "The first, obviously, is because I won the pageant and am now able to compete for the Miss South Carolina crown. The second reason is since there wasn't a local pageant in 2009, there was no one to give up their crown. Therefore, I was lucky enough to have the beautiful Miss South Carolina, Kelly Sloan, present me with the crown."

Ward will now move on to the Miss South Carolina Pageant. The event will be held here in Spartanburg at the Spartanburg Auditorium from June 30th through July 3rd.

"I will be hard at work in preparation for the Miss South Carolina Pageant," added Ward. "I will be working with community service organizations through service projects and fundraisers while focusing on my platform `Promoting Healthy Lifestyles in Children.'"

Ward went on to say, "I am really looking forward to April 21, 2010 when all of the Miss South Carolina contestants make their way to the state capitol to spend time with representatives and legislators. I also look forward to my service year as Miss Traveler's Rest 2010 and I hope to gain everyone's support while on my journey to becoming Miss South Carolina."
