Statesboro, Ga. - USC Upstate got its first taste of Division I play at Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon, but the young Spartans could not muster any offense falling 4-0 to the Eagles in an exhibition at Eagle Field.

Georgia Southern midfielder Ashley Toussaint found the back of the net in the eighth minute on a header to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Toussaint would strike again in the 11th minute, knocking home a cross by defender Heather Smith to extend the lead to 2-0.

Eagles midfielder Jennifer Godfrey added to the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal off a loose ball from a corner kick for a 3-0 halftime lead. Midfielder/forward Jenny Anderson added an unassisted goal early in the second half at the 47th minute mark to close out the scoring.
