Sandy Halkett is in her second season as assistant coach with the USC Upstate women's golf program. She will assist in all phases of the women's golf program with an emphasis on skill development.

Under her her leadership, the 2008-09 Spartans claimed two Top-5 finishes, including a third-place effort at the 9-team Holiday Inn Express/Hatter Classic. Upstate also finished the year with nine Top-10 finishes in 11 tournaments. The 322.3 4-player tournament stroke average last year is the lowest in program history.

Halkett came to Upstate with tremendous credentials as a teaching professional. She has been a teaching pro for 12 years and is currently an LPGA Teaching Professional at the Eagle Zone Golf Center in Greenville where she provides insight and technique into the game of golf. Prior to her position at Eagle Zone, she was the head golf professional at The Cliffs of Glassy and Millstone Golf Village. She is a class "A" member of the LPGA T&CP and apprentice in the PGA program. In addition, she serves as the golf coach for the Special Olympics and works with "Adaptive Golf' which is a teaching program designed for physically challenged individuals. She also provides teaching techniques on Fox Carolina WHNS-21.

Halkett was a standout student-athlete, having spent four years as a member of the Clemson University women's soccer club team from 1988-91 prior to the university establishing its varsity program in 1994. She graduated from Clemson in 1992 with a bachelor of science degree in Business Management. It was at Clemson where she was introduced to the game of golf and the sport became a passion for her.

Halkett is a native of Greenville and attended Eastside High School where she played basketball, soccer and tennis. She and her husband Scott, a former standout soccer player at Upstate and current member of the University's Athletics Hall of Fame, have two sons, Luke and Gabriel; and a daughter, Campbell.
