Spartanburg, S.C. - Final tryouts for the 2008-09 USC Upstate Cheerleading squad will take place in early September to fill out the remaining spots on this year's team.

Head coach Brandy Laney, in her second year at the helm of the program, will conduct a clinic on Sept. 2-3 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. at 219 NE Drive in Spartanburg. Tryouts will take place Friday, Sept. 5 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at 219 NE Drive in Spartanburg.

Registration forms are located in the Upstate Athletic Department office. Pick up the registration forms, fill them out and return it to the athletic office or mail to: Brandy Laney USC Upstate Cheerleading 92 Fairview Church Road Spartanburg, SC 29303

Date: Sept. 2-3, 2008 (clinic) and Sept. 5, 2008 (tryouts)
Time: Sept. 2-3, 3:30-7:00 pm; Sept. 5, 4:00-5:00 pm
Where: United Cheerleading Training Center
Requirements:
-- Tumbling - Standing back handspring, round off back handspring, etc.
-- Stunting - Base must be able to main, side and back with no limitations. Flyer must be able to hit all of the following skills with ease: heel stretch, scorpion, scale, arabesque, single-double full down out of a stunt.
-- Jumps - Triple jump sequence, triple toe touch, toe touch, pike, front hurdler.
