Upstate Cheerleading Camp Photo Gallery SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate cheerleading team finished a three-day private stunt camp with two instructors from perennial cheerleading power Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday at the United Cheerleading of Spartanburg Complex. The Spartans worked for six hours each day during the three day camp, learning plenty of new material for the upcoming season. Hawaii Pacific University, which has won six straight National Championships at the National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships, sent Chelsea Ross and Darnell Brown for the camp. Brown, who has been with Hawaii Pacific for three years, has helped HPU to two national championships. Ross cheered at the University of Houston before coming to HPU, where she has been a for two years and has helped the team to two national titles. "Both Darnell and Chelsea were very pleased with the progress that the Upstate cheerleaders made during the camp," Upstate cheerleading coach Brandy Laney said. "They threw a lot of material at the girls and worked hard to try and master it in such a short period. The Upstate team has set its goals high for this season. The camp not only allowed them to work on the progression of our stunting, it also allowed the team to bond and begin working together. We look forward to the start of practice the first week of September for the 2008-09 season." |
