When the USC Upstate women's basketball team steps onto the court for its home opener against IUPUI tonight at the G.B. Hodge Center, it will do so having already secured the school's first victory at the NCAA Division I level.

Last Friday, the Spartans won at Charleston Southern thanks in large part to a magnificent performance by sophomore guard Courtney Hawkins.

Making her first start of the season, the former Greer High School standout scored a career-high 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
