SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate men's tennis team once again dominated play during the second day of the Wofford Fall Challenge, finishing the event with an .897 winning percentage on the campus of Wofford College on Saturday. Junior Leandro Osorio (Quillota, Chile/Subercaseaux) and sophomores Jack Roux (Santiago, Chile/Subercaseaux) led the team with six wins during the tournament, three in singles and three in doubles.

The tournament features play between two schools in singles and then playing another school in doubles, so it is not a true dual match format and no team scoring is recorded. However, the Spartans posted a perfect 8-0 win in singles play against Appalachian State, a 3-1 doubles win against Wofford and a 2-0 doubles win against High Point.

Osorio, who beat Wofford's Richard Cahi, 6-3, 6-0 and High Point's Jim Trussler, 3-0, retired, in singles on Friday, wrapped up the tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Appalachian State's Britton Webb, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Osorio teamed with senior Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso (Lima, Peru/Cambridge College) to post an 8-5 win over Appalachian State's team of Webb and Ryan Brookshaw on Friday. The duo beat High Point's Benjamin Deloume and Maxime Detois, 8-6 and Wofford's Scott Collins and Cahi, 8-4, on Saturday.

Gonzales-Orbegoso also won both his singles matches, downing Wofford's Schechter, 6-4, 7-5, and Appalachian State's Peter Jacobs, 6-4, 6-4.

Roux, who beat Wofford's Paul Bartholomy, 6-1, 6-1, and High Point's Henri Mangin, 6-3, 6-1, on Friday, beat Appalachian State's Tent Constance, 6-3, 4-0, retired to wrap up his singles play on Saturday. Teaming with sophomore Javier Tori (Lima, Peru/Markham College) to win three matches, downing Appalachian State's Floyd and Doverspike, 8-5, on Friday before beating High Point's Jim Trussler and Henry Mangin, 8-4 and Wofford's Michael Schechter and Bartolomy, 8-6, on Saturday.

Tori won his singles match against Appalachian State's Lee Floyd, 6-3, 6-4.

The doubles team of junior Arnaldo Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela) and freshman Nicolas Ospina (Bogota, Colombia/S.E. de Manizales) also concluded the tournament with perfect records, as they teamed to down Wofford's Ryan Byrne and Anthony Will, 8-3, and Appalachian State's Russ Ferrari and Eddie Elliot, 8-2. Lovera downed Alan Donald, 6-1, 6-0 and High Point's Dutois, 6-1, 1-0, retired on Friday before wrapping up the tournament with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Appalachian State's David Doverspike on Saturday. Ospina, playing his first collegiate tournament, downed Byrne, 6-2, 6-2 on Friday before taking out Elliott in a thriller, 5-7, 6-3, 11-9.

Junior Sandy Franz (Duesseldorf, Germany/Berufskolleg Hilden) won all three of his singles matches in the No. 1 singles slot, as he downed Andrew Stubbs of Wofford, 6-2, 6-3, High Point's Deloume, 6-1, 6-1, and Appalachian State's Brookshaw, 6-4, 6-4.

Sophomore Renzo Airaldi (Lima, Peru/Domingo Faustino Sarmiento) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wofford's Will and a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ferrari in singles action.
