Final Stats

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Seniors Renzo Airaldi and Javier Tori kept their eyes on the record book on Friday afternoon as the USC Upstate men's tennis team posted a 6-1 Atlantic Sun Conference win over the Southeast Region's 10th-ranked University of North Florida to stay perfect in the league. Airaldi became the second player in school history to reach 80 career doubles wins and Tori moved within one singles win and two doubles wins of reaching another pair of milestones.

Airaldi, who partnered with Tori to post an 8-6 win over Taylor Albrecht and Kurt Gattiker at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point, is second in school history with 80 doubles wins, two wins behind his partner, Tori, who has a school-record 82.

Tori, meanwhile, won his 18th doubles match of the year, moving two wins away from becoming the first player in school history to reach 20 in all four seasons of his career. He later added a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Moritz Buerchner to post his 19th singles victory of the year, moving one win away from becoming the first Upstate player to win 20 matches in three seasons.

After a loss to a regionally-ranked pair at No. 2 doubles, the Spartans (14-5 overall, 6-0 A-Sun) came back to win the point, as sophomores Edgar Rodriguez and Ramiro Blanco posted an 8-5 win at No. 3 over Buerchner and Leonardo Nahar before Airaldi and Tori clinched the point.

In singles play, Upstate continued its solid play, as Tori won at No. 3, Blanco added a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nahar at No. 5 and Linconir posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Gattiker at No. 6 to clinch the match. With a 4-0 lead, senior Jack Roux added a super-set win over Albrecht, 7-6, 4-6, 11-9 and Airaldi lost a three-set affair to wrap up the match.

UNF fell to 14-5 overall and 5-2 in the A-Sun.

The Spartans will look for its 10th road win of the season and its 10th straight A-Sun road win on Saturday when it plays its final match of the season away from the friendly confines of the USC Upstate Tennis Complex at Jacksonville at 10 a.m.
