CLEMSON, S.C. - The USC Upstate men's and women's indoor track and field teams returned to action for the first time since December looking to build on their performances at the Clemson Invitational Friday night.

"I think everyone showed improvement from our first meet," Upstate track head coach Jimmy Stephens said. "We wanted to pick up from where we left off and improve from there."

Upstate freshman Billeto McGee highlighted the evening for the Spartans with a time of 7.15 seconds in the preliminaries of the men's 60 meter dash. McGee's time was just .13 seconds away from qualifying for Saturday's final.

"(Billeto's) just making great strides," Stephens said. "He's working very hard and his times are showing that."

Friday also turned out to be another good performance for freshman Perrish Goggins, who finished the long jump with a mark of 6.13 meters.

On the women's side, Stephens said that sophomore Stacie Sewell and junior Kayla Speed each showed improvement in the women's weight throw with Sewell notching a throw of 9.78 meters and Speed finishing with a 9.66 meter throw.

Upstate will finish competition at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
