Ezekiel Koech, a 2005 graduate of Francis Marion University, is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the USC Upstate track and field team. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Business Administration with an Economics concentration from Garder-Webb University. Koech is scheduled to graduate this May.

Koech began his collegiate career at Utalii College in Nairobi, Kenya (1998-2000). He was part of the cross country and track and field teams while obtaining an associate's degree in Tourism, Travel and Hotel Administration. While at Utalli, Koech set school records in the 3,000-meter run (8:38) and 5,000-meter run (14:13).

Koech continued his education at Francis Marion (2003-2005). He received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in management. During his two years at FMU, he was a member of the cross country and track and field teams. Koech set the cross country school-record (8k) with a performance of 25:30. He also set a school record in the 10,000-meter run. He was named as the cross country and track and field teams MVP in 2005.

Following graduation, Koech remained in Florence, S.C., to serve as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs. He served as the training and recruiting coordinator for the program. He developed and oversaw the practices for the program. He recruited and coached the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Year.
