Emily Tangwar Women's Cross Country

For the second time in 2007-08, women's cross country runner Emily Tangwar has been named the SunCom Wireless Spartan of the Week. She becomes the first Upstate student-athlete to win the award two times this year.

Tangwar, from Eldoret, Kenya, earned the honor after winning the individual title at The Citadel Invitational last weekend. Tangwar has been close to winning an individual championship this year, having placed in the Top 10 in all three meets prior to last Saturday, including a fourth-place showing at the Charlotte Invite two weeks ago. However, Saturday was her day. She finished the 5k race in a time of 18:14.38 to finish four seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Her win allowed the Spartans to finish fifth in the event.
