Anna Novo Women's Tennis

Women's tennis player Anna Novo has been named the SunCom Wireless Spartan of the Week after leading the Upstate women's tennis team to the A-Sun regular seasson championship, the first for the University as members of NCAA Division I and the A-Sun.

Novo, a freshman from Caracas, Venezuela, finished the season with a perfect 11-0 singles record in A-Sun play, helping lead the Spartans to a perfect 11-0 mark in conference competition. For her leadership and play on the court, she was named the A-Sun Player of the Year, also a first for the school.

Novo won 29 singles matches in 2007-08, establishing a new school record. In addition to her perfect A-Sun season, she won four tournaments in the fall, two singles and two doubles.
