Bill English became USC Upstate's third sports information director on February 5, 2001. He is in his sixth year as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations after being promoted to the position in 2003.

English came to USC Upstate after serving as the assistant sports information director at Wofford College from 1997-2001.

English is a 1993 graduate of Wofford with a bachelor's degree in government. Upon graduation, he worked for one year in the sports department at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal where he was a writer covering high school football and basketball and college basketball.

English left the Herald-Journal to attend graduate school at Appalachian State where he served as a graduate assistant in the sports information office. Also working as a graduate assistant in the physical education department while working on his master's degree in sport management, he was inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Lambda graduate school national honor fraternity in 1996.

English is a member of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). He worked as the official scorer for the Greenville Braves, a former Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, in 2000.

A native of Washington Court House, Ohio, English moved to Spartanburg with his family in 1981. He is single and resides in Spartanburg.
