Morgan Childers picked up a pair of wins on the day, one in a complete game start and the other in relief, and USC Upstate broke out the bats in the second game as the Spartans swept Western Carolina, 2-1 and 9-3, in non-conference softball action Tuesday at Cyrill Stadium.

As the winds picked up on the eastern portion of Puerto Rico, the scores went up as well in the second round of the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate Classic Tuesday afternoon. Upstate carded a 295 and will take a 10-stroke lead into the final round of play Wednesday.

3/9/2010 - M. Tennis
The USC Upstate men's tennis team will ride its six-game winning streak all the way across America for a Spring Break trip in southern California, playing three matches in four days in the Golden State. Upstate will have its hands full during all three matches, too, starting the trip by facing San Diego on Thursday before taking on Loyola Marymount on Friday. The team wraps up the trip by facing No. 51 UC Irvine on Sunday, who recently lost to San Diego, 4-3. The Spartans will once again rely on its senior leadership to get through the tournament, as senior Jack Roux has won his last 11 singles matches and senior doubles partners Renzo Airaldi and Javier Tori have won nine straight matches.

One week after earning its first national ranking in the Division I era, the USC Upstate women's tennis team will head into a particularly treacherous part of the schedule, starting with Charleston Southern, which takes a perfect record into the week. The two teams will face off at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Thursday at 2 p.m.
