Basketball In a battle of third-place Atlantic Sun Conference teams, Mercer and the USC Upstate women's basketball team fittingly turned to the 3-pointer, combining for 23 in a terse battle Monday night. In the end, it was sophomore Lesley Daniel that hit the biggest dagger of the night, highlighting a game-clinching 13-2 run to lift Upstate to an 87-78 win over Mercer at the University Center. Tennis Young Spartans Win Debut Over Blue Hose, 5-2After three weeks of postponements, the USC Upstate women's tennis team finally got to make its 2010 spring debut, doing so in style with a 5-2 win over USC Upstate, as the team, with a lineup featuring four freshmen, saw two of them with singles wins and three posting doubles wins at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Monday afternoon. Golf Spartans Stand 15th As Play Suspended At JU InvitationalWith play suspended due to darkness and the teams needing to complete as many as four holes, Josh Gallman led the Upstate charge in the JU Invitational, standing 27th in a field that contains three of the nation's top 40 teams at the PLAYERS Stadium Course at the TPC Sawgrass Monday.

Basketball Spartans Sputter In Second Half, Fall At MercerAfter a nearly flawless first half gave USC Upstate a 12-point halftime lead, Upstate couldn't get anything going offensively in the second half and Mercer stormed back to take an 83-69 victory over the Spartans Monday night in A-Sun men's basketball action in the University Center.
