Spartan Softball Signees Solid This Spring

USC Upstate head softball coach Chris Hawkins has stated that he feels good about the incoming softball players he signed in 2008-09, believing all eight can contribute to the success of the Spartan program in the coming years. While looking at the individual accolades the group achieved this past spring and early summer, Hawkins may be justified in his thinking.

The United States scored two goals in each half and limited Grenada to just three shots in the match to take a 4-0 victory over the Spice Boys and former USC Upstate men's soccer great Ricky Charles in the opening game of the 2009 CONCACAF God Cup Saturday night at Qwest Field in Seattle, Wash.

Perry Joins Upstate's Men's Basketball Staff As Assistant Coach

After helping turnaround a South Carolina State program that finished second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2008-09 during a two-year stay as an assistant coach, Kyle Perry has been hired as an assistant coach to help lead the same kind of transformation as the USC Upstate men's basketball team continues its transition into Division I, head coach Eddie Payne announced on Monday. Perry will serve as Upstate's recruiting coordinator and will serve in all aspects of the program, including scouting and floor coaching. MORE [+]
